Apprenticeships 'a wise choice' for UK organisations

Apprenticeships can provide UK organisations and hopeful job hunters with valuable employment experience, one sector body has noted.

In its new report The State of Apprenticeships in 2010, the Apprenticeship Ambassadors' Network (AAN) said that they have never been more highly valued by employers and young people, with numbers and completion rates at an all-time high.

However the organisations noted that many competitor countries are doing better when it comes to utilising and developing the skills of apprentices and the nation needs to see what their criteria for success is.

Sir Roy Gardner, chairman of the AAN, commented: "We wanted to draw comparisons on the planning and delivery of apprenticeships, with a particular focus on employer participation and involvement. We cannot be complacent and we need to know what lessons can be learnt."

Paul Davis, managing director of Perspective, recently said that people looking for sales recruitment opportunities should consider gaining skills on an apprenticeship, no matter what age they are.
