Employers 'swamped' as demand for sales jobs soars

Interest in sales jobs, as well as a host of other positions across a variety of sectors, is continuing to rise, leaving many employers overwhelmed, it has been revealed.

With the number of people both out of work as a result of the recession and leaving university and on the lookout for graduate positions on the rise, a new report has revealed the extent to which popular posts, such as sales jobs, are attracting interest from qualified candidates.

Research carried out by the website Studentgems.com found that employers are now receiving an average of 120 CVs for every position they post, though in some case, the number is significantly higher.

This represents a typical 130 per cent increase over the past two years alone, meaning applicants are under more pressure than ever to stand out from the crowd with their qualifications and experience.

Sue Harrison, the website's founder, explained: "The candidate really must 'wow' the employer in order to stand out against other applicants."

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph has backed up the findings by revealing that one of its recent recruitment advertisements attracted more than 350 applications.
